Hello and welcome to the Natural Economics Workshop.
In this series I will be exploring a radical new way to view our economy. This series is going to cover some unique perspectives and some challenging proposals, but all will be explained in everyday language and will be easy to follow. Let us start this series with a preview of the topics we will be covering.
Designing the Brief
NEW breaks all norms by taking a design approach to the economy and the starting point for any design is the brief. In this post I establish a brief for an economy for the 99.99%, a brief for you and I.
A Day in the Life
We take a look ahead at what a day in the life in a Natural Economy might be like. This preview will introduce some of the new concepts and how they create a more inclusive and equitable economy.
The Creation of Wealth
The current definition of wealth is super fuzzy, a grab bag of concepts that makes no effort at precision. For our new economy, we need a new objective definition of wealth and wealth creation. We will build a new definition of wealth, grounded in the physical laws that describe the natural world. This definition will lay a firm foundation for our Natural Economy.
Sustainable Wealth
Our new definition of wealth automatically links wealth to energy efficiency, the fundamental constraints on any economy. This new definition of wealth builds sustainability into the foundations of our new economy in an objectively verifiable way.
Natural Money
The creation of wealth can simultaneously create money in a direct, transparent, and objectively measurable way. We explore how this new money form offers unique ways to create transactions that are secure, equitable and highly efficient, far more efficient than the models we use today.
Thinking Money
Satoshi Nakamoto transformed money from a passive carrier of value into software. This fork in money’s evolution is much more important and powerful than Bitcoin or the Blockchain. Now that money is code it can harness all the power and intelligence software can bring. We will consider how money that thinks improves security, transparency, and economic efficiency.
New Architectures
Having designed the foundational tools for a robust, equitable and sustainable Natural Economy we will explore how these tools can be used to implement new economic structures and forms. New economies that are designed by people for people.
The Roadmap
A design that is never implemented is useless. The roadmap will set out the steps needed to take us to a better future. We will review the inevitable challenges to the adoption of a new economic system and how we can overcome them. This section will cover the methods of implementation from the design of new communities and new money to the way we can parallel these with the ’old’ economy.
Metrics and Models
In this section, we build the metrics to measure our new economy’s performance enabling both us and our intelligent money to make informed decisions.
A Call for Feedback
Constructive feedback is very welcome, which is why the comments section is open. I only ask that you do not use the comments to defend the current system. There are thousands of blogs arguing that the status quo is correct, and that is not what this blog is about.
And one further request, please critique the content of this blog using its axioms and language. Asking a Latin speaker to use Japanese grammar just doesn’t work. Of course, you may not wish to do so, in which case I thank you for reading this far and wish you well with your future.
In the next post we will establish the brief for an economy designed for the 99.99%, you and I
Im working on a fiction piece “the Jackson’s debate economics”
I would much apreciate we working together on that, what do you think?
